NUVEX^® Saniboard Care and Installation

NUVEX® Saniboard is a modified high density polyethylene (HDPE) specifically developed for use as toilet partitions, change room seats and benches and other wet area applications. The monolithic construction of the sheet means that the colour and density is uniform throughout the entire sheet thickness. NUVEX® Saniboard will not rot, swell or delaminate in the presence of water. It also exhibits excellent chemical resistance at continuous operating temperatures of up to 70⁰C.

Thermal Expansion
Like all thermoplastics, the coefficient of linear thermal expansion is higher than most metals and timber at 2x10^-4. That translates to 2mm per metre for every 10⁰C increase in temperature. There may be some situations where this may need to be taken into consideration.

Storage of NUVEX® Sheets
NUVEX® sheet should always be stored laying flat. Do not store upright or in a leaning position. Storing upright will induce a bow in the sheet or finished panel that can be difficult to correct. The same methodology applies to finished panels prior to installation.

According to manufacturer’s advice, it still may be possible to correct a bow in a sheet or panel, should this occur, laying the sheet on a smooth, clean, flat surface opposite the bow and place a weight of at least 1000kg on top. It is recommended to leave the weight in place for 48 hours. This method has proven successful in correcting a bowed sheet or panel, depending upon the severity of the bow.

Installation of Hinges
NUVEX® sheet by its nature is not as rigid as timber, therefore, it is strongly recommended that 3 hinges are used per door.

Location:
Top and bottom hinges 50 to 100mm in from each end. The third hinge centrally located.

Aluminium Extrusions
Ensure that the aluminium extrusions used are a neat fit for the NUVEX® Saniboard panels. In particular, for overhead bracing, as a loose fit will allow a frontal to twist, especially if it is leg mounted.

Note:
Most NUVEX® Saniboard partitions are made from 19mm material. Please ensure that you use a self tapping pan head screw no longer than 15mm to secure the extrusions. A pan head screw ensures even force on the fixing.

Fixing of Aluminium Frontal Leg to the Floor
Fix to the floor with a single central screw. Once aligned, secure to the floor with silicone sealant. This will prevent swivelling.
